Sports Massage at JazzEx Do you have a sports injury, poor posture, or just ache from sitting at your desk all day?
It is a commonly held belief that Sports Massage is only for professional sportsmen and women, but in fact sports massage can help individuals of all backgrounds. If you are a recreational runner, play squash once a week or you are a sedentary individual with little or no activity, a massage can help you get more out of your daily activities and help avoid injuries. Minor Sports Injuries Sprained ankle, pulled a calf musle, strained shoulder joint, we have all done it at some point in our lives, rarely do we see a doctor or physio to get it looked at or treated. If you do an injury like this, the best treatment in the first 24-48 hours is RICE, R est, I ce, C ompression, E levation. Not only will this generally reduce the swelling and pain, but will enable you to speed up your bodies natural repair process.
Whilst you are resting, book an assessment so we can conclude what is the best course of recovery is. My massage techniques can aid the repair process by easing tight muscles (your bodies natural response to injury). I can also provide assistance and advice on re-mobilising the injured joint and ultimately returning you to full functional fitness. Poor Posture? Before becoming a personal trainer and massage practitioner I used to do a desk job. Sat at that desk for five days a week, eight or more hours a day really makes a mess of your body. The muscles in the backs of your legs become shorter, your shoulders rotate forward, you loose sensation in your hands, you have regular back pain. What's worse is that when you start a new fitness routine to try to combat these problems, you almost immediately injure yourself because of these problems. Does this sound familiar?
Sports massage is an excellent treatment for postural imbalances, created by doing something repetitive like sitting at a desk, incorrectly lifting heavy objects on a factory floor, or even wearing high-heel shoes too much. My assessment procedures can quickly highlight potential problem areas and I will provide treatment, flexibility and strength exercises and advice on how to improve your overall posture on a daily basis. Who am I? My name is Tim Goodwin an I am a qualified Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Practitioner, with hands on experience of clients from various sporting backgrounds including triathletes, rugby and football players, as well as less active office workers and the older client.
